Nickie Kane is a dedicated New Yorker with a diverse background and a passion for public service. Born and raised in the city, Nickie began her professional journey right after high school, starting in retail at GAP before transitioning to banking. She worked for Amalgamated Bank, then North Fork Bank, which later became Capital One Bank.
After several years in finance, Nickie made a career shift into advertising, working in the accounting department at Publicis Groupe. When the economy took a downturn, she used the opportunity to return to school, earning a degree in new media. There, she learned how to build websites and gained hands-on experience in tech support while working in the campus IT office. She later pursued a second degree in psychology and went on to work in human resources at Disney ABC Television Group.
Nickie spent a few years in Florida, working in small business lending, before returning home to New York City. She is currently working toward a degree in paralegal studies while staying deeply engaged in her community.
Her decision to run for City Council stems from firsthand frustration with the city bureaucracy and repeated negative experiences with local agencies. Nickie is running because she believes New Yorker’s deserve elected officials who will fight for real accountability, clear communication, and a government that works for the people not against them.
